Haukur Már Helgason studied screenwriting in FAMU, Prague, and philosophy in Berlin and Reykjavík. He is a founding member of experimental literary collective Nýhil. He has published numerous works as writer and translator, ranging from experimental poetry to his translation of Slavoj Zizek’s Plague of Fantasies (HÍB 2007). From 2005 to 2008 Már lectured extensively at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, on semiology, the politics of the image, and other topics at the intersection of art and political emancipation. Haukur Már has contributed to the The London Review of Books and Lettre International, and is a long time collaborator of Reykjavík Grapevine magazine.
Haukur Már now lives, studies and writes in Berlin.
